On Wednesday 11 June the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rt Hon Rachel Reeves, announced the government's spending review.

GuildHE responded to the spending review with a statement from our Chief Executive Officer, Dr Brooke Storer-Church:

We welcome the Chancellor’s bold investment in skills, R&D, and innovation. GuildHE institutions play a vital role in vocational training, applied research, and delivering the workforce for key sectors like teaching, healthcare, green energy and the built environment.

But without targeted support for a diverse higher education sector, these ambitions will not be met. To realise the full impact of the £1.2bn training and £22bn R&D commitments, government must back the institutions best placed to supply the skills needed, and drive inclusive growth and innovation across the UK.”
